I will OC later on...but for now...

there is a difference of 50$ from the place where I buy my parts...

does 4200+ OC well...

I wouldn't expect the 4200 to overclock any better, so the 3800 would be my choice as long as you know your mobo will run the higher HT needed when you decide to OC..

It is hard to imagine that there is a 3800 out there, that won't go right to 2.2 with just the needed HT bump to 220..

At least 2.4 seems to be pretty common with default volts..

4200+ is a worthless upgrade IMO. Now if you can stretch to the 4400+ - that is definitely worthwhile (Toledo core = 1 MB cache). But overall, the 3800+ is the best "bang for your buck" model in the X2 line.

the 4200 might not be that bad.

if you want nero 7 that is,

at newegg cost is about 70 bucks more, PLUS u get the better heatsink, which might save u roughly 30-40 bucks on a decent heat sink.

figuring just the cost of the sink, u might save 20 bucks over the 3800, plus u get nero.

The last 4200+ I got ( From ZZF with Nero 7 ) did not have the the better heatsink ..

Good one!
That Opteron will likely hit 2.5 GHz or more with a good mobo, & it's damn cheap :D
Go for it!
