LOL, Yes you too are trapped. Thats how I started and I hated how crappy the controls on a keyboard were, so stop now before you get any. I didnt have a joystick if I had I might have used it and not built this ...... So if you dont want to get stuck doing this too then you had better go get a jotstick first.

Out of curiosity, why did you use a television instead of a monitor? For the $50 - $60 more, I would think that you'd get one hell of an increase in the visual quality. I've seen the tv out on mine, (Radeon 7000) and it's not all that impressive. :(

Well for one thing, On the moniter it streches it out and at the higher resolutions the images begin to look pixeled. If you use a tv the text may not be as legible but the images apear alot more crisp game wise at that low resolutsions.

Ahh, I was thinking monitors support resolutions like 320x200, but you have a point that because of how sharp they are, it'll look pixelated.

LOL, yeah, I had hit reply earlier this morning and your answer hadn't yet been posted. Before I was done compsing my question, the phone rang before I hit the reply to thread button.

Yeah, TV's have built in anti-aliasing. ;)

Actually have you tried using AA, that may actually really help. Hmmm, maybe I'll try that when I get home.

Ack, don't use mame32. Use the mame v63 windows .exe and go get a good front end like Mame Classic. It will play many more games than mame32 and gives you the same ease of firing up your favorite mame games.

you could always put an xbox inside and use that to emulate. Cool project...can't wait to see the finished product.

Hey AMDman12GHz, where are you getting your supplies for your cabinet? I need a 25" monitor for my Killer Instinct 2 machine, mine went out. :(

Im just using a TV as a Moniter. You can get moniters from Happ Controlers, though they will hurt your wallet but there service is good from what I hear.

Dude, thanks! I called them up and they are very nice and their prices weren't that bad. This will be my first time replacing a monitor (in a coin op machine), is it hard? I don't want to electrocute the is sh!t out of myself.

It shouldnt be too hard, just pay close attention to how it is connected and document it before you rip out the old one, and have someone there to help you as they are heavy and you dont want to drop it or ram it into the rack and break it.

Is there a way I can make sure the electricity is discharged from the monitor (old monitor) before I install the new one? I don't want to blow my hand off.
