More storage for my 360?

I'm not going to buy the elite but I am looking for more storage space. Does this method really work?

I don't think that method allows you to use the external drive for XBLA games or XBM downloaded media, just as a storage device for media copied from a PC. It still might be handy, but it's more a substitute for an iPod than a real extension to your 360's internal storage. If it were this easy, MS wouldn't be able to charge $179 for a 120GB hard drive.
