More RAM?

2800+ barton @ 200*11
2*256mb pc3200
x800xl

I get stuttering in the beginning of games like UT2004. I play for 30-45 seconds and the problem goes away. The standard response at AT forums is : GET 512MB MORE RAM!

But the problem is that the allocated memory never peaks above 512mb in Task manager /Performance when I play UT2004. Would more ram really help?

The difference between 512 and 1GB is HUGE on large 32 Player onslaught levels in ut2k4, and the difference is also HUGE in games like Doom3. The best thing you could do for your system is to boost the ram to at least 1GB.

Same with WoW. The difference is *massive* between 512MB, 1GB and 2GB.
Well, in player infested territories, like Orgrimmar, where there's usually around 100-200 players.
Even with 2GB, I "stutter" a little when I enter the game there.

Definatly get 1GB of ram, i dunno about 2GB that seems over kill imho, Also the processor *might* be holding you back a bit, but the only solution to this would be a new mobo and cpu.

If you've ever logged into Org when there's a few hundred people there, tell me if it lags with 1GB. 😛

Even with 2GB, I lag when I enter, but not so much when I'm moving.
