More ram going to hurt OC?

Quick question, im not overclocking my ram but will adding another 3 sticks hurt my OC at all? i can get a matching set of ram right now for $65 and it seems like a sweet deal for another 6GB.

I have 6 x 2 GB running at 1739 MHz and have no issues running my CPU at 4 GHz. 1.25V for both the core and QPI, and 1.65V for the RAM.

the possibility is always there that it will, however if you feel you will benefit from the extra memory then its a moot point as it will always net a greater performance increase than whatever margins you lost on your overclock would have

same as CPU core, 1.35v.

Okay so you are pretty close to the recommended limit for 24/7 OCing. So there's 2 questions you need to ask...1) do I really need more than 6GB for what I do ? (If gaming primarily, then I would say no); and 2) am I willing to lower the Bclk (and my overclock) to stabilize the system with all RAM slots populated knowing I can't realistically raise QPI/VTT much further ?

What is the recommended 24/7 QPI/VTT voltage? Mine is sort of close to that 1.35 as well

Intel upped the max to 1.40v earlier this year. Just my opinion, but I think if the machine is on 24/7 and OCed, coming in under that probably makes sense from a longevity perspective...so 1.30 - 1.35v.

Well, mine is constantly OC'ed when on, but my computer is nowhere close to being turn on 24/7. I use my computer maybe 5 and a half hours per day on most days, and I don't stress my computer most of the time that it's on.

Do you find yourself in ram limited situations very often with 6gb? I think I'd just wait until 12gb kits (3x4gb) at DDR3-2000 or faster speeds are somewhat affordable, probably about this time next year. $65 is pretty damned cheap though!
