More proof that the right is in trouble: complete idoctrination and idol worship when it comes to Rush Limbaugh

So much so, the right is unable to even have an honest debate about it because it's considered heresy to suggest Limbaugh hurts the republican's efforts to court non-conservatives to vote for them.

Here's a fascinating roundup over the spat over at National Review http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs...servative-heretic.aspx . A CATO Senior fellow, Jerry Taylor, made a not-too-controversial post over at NR's blog, the corner suggesting that Obama hopes to project Limbaugh and Hannity as the GOP's leader because they're unpopular and hurts the GOP's efforts to court more voters.

http://corner.nationalreview.c...IwYjA2YTkwNWRmODMxNmY=

The rest of the NR writers absolutely tore apart Jerry in subsequent NR blog posts (notice how vicious the language they use against Jerry is). If you notice, Jerry makes reasoned arguments while the rest of NR makes non-sequitors. For example, Jerry would point out that Rush Limbaugh has only a 19% approval rating, suggesting that it hurts the conservatives ability to convince non-conservatives that their ideas are right. However, Mark Steyn points to Limbaugh's show as being the #1 radio show in America, as if Limbaugh preaching to the choir somehow relates to what Jerry is talking about when it comes to non-republican voters.

And why does the Obama admin want Rush and Hannity front and center and gives them so much attention? According to Kathryn Jean Lopez, it's because they're effective! That's right, the left is willingly being generous to the GOP; they believe Rush and Hannity are really good at convincing people to join the conservative movement so lets give them more attention! Tortured logic anyone (no pun intended)?

This, my friends is what is going to kill the GOP. There's absolutely no introspection and self reflection. To accept nothing but ideological purity is madness. And this is why you will be out of power for a long time to come (and the country will be better off for it)

More proof that the left is in trouble: complete character assassination and frothing at the mouth when it comes to Rush Limbaugh. I mean, you guys have a super majority and what's the most important subject of the year? A radio show host.

Nice distraction and obsession.

How is the left in trouble when we're so successfully hanging Rush Limbaugh around your necks?

Do you agree or disagree that the right's inability to even debate whether distancing themselves from a divisive figure like Limbaugh is bad for the party?

Phokus just stop trolling. Yes, Rush is a gasbag, but your ranting and R bashing is just getting absurd.

Agreed. This isn't any better than Winnar111's frothing at the mouth about Dems really.

Enough with the bickering on both sides.

The left is more concerned/scared about the windbags that the right.

It shows here also in the threads that are being continually generated by a few lefties.

If the left is 'scared' of Limbaugh, why is Obama giving him so much attention then?

Because it appeals to his lunatic base, the mouth frothers. I'm sure if you actually listened to rush you'd find he's pretty entertaining and informative.

Are you saying Rush Appeals to his lunatic base or the act of paying attention to Rush appeals to the left's 'lunatic base'?

And what does that accomplish?

Ok, well now you're being as bad as the OP here. I'm neither a Dem or a Republican, and I have listened to Rush Limbaugh (as well as Hannity, Franken, many others from all sides), and Rush Limbaugh MAY be entertaining to those who simply want someone to make fun of people that disagree with them, he is FAR from informative. At least, for anything resembling real facts and ideas and things along those lines.

I used to listen to him just to keep myself awake at a factory job when I was younger.

I have to disagree with your assertion.

The far left's lunatic base. Moderates and conservatives don't really care, he's just some guy on the radio. But make fun of him and the far left start peeing themselves a little bit.

Except the Obama administration isn't really making fun of Rush. They're calling him the leader of the GOP. I don't think you righties "get" what Obama is trying to do here

Rush is Reich.

Goebbels would be so proud ...

But would the GOP rather have Dick as the face of the party ?

I just have to laugh. A couple weeks ago flipping through channels, CNN was doing an interview, and the box at the bottom said something like "Former McCain adviser says GOP must change or will face extinction"... then I look up at it's actually James Carville  Okay, Obama won, Dems are in the majority. But you're all acting like 8 year olds.

And some time before that I was flipping through radio stations and came across Chicago's progressive talk radio... yeah, you think "the right" is bad? These people spent considerable time on the all important topic of... calling John Boehner "John Boner" and laughing it up. Progressives are lunatics. And every caller into the show was praising Obama, insulting "the rich", and always putting in a line about how Republicans do not want people to have jobs.

How am i delusional? Explain to me why Obama gives Limbaugh so much attention. Explain to me how this fits with the ATPN hypothesis that the left is scared of Limbaugh. Why give limbaugh attention if we're scared of him?

The only delusional people are the righties here. As the Limbaugh noose tightens around your necks, i'll be here laughing at you

The very nature of conservatism is to cling to your old-fashioned beliefs no matter what. And you really think these people are going to introspect or reflect on a GD thing? No way. They probably believe that they're right, the entire GD world is wrong, and the true believers feel they can simply wait out the rest of the planet until they come to their "senses."

It's pathetic is what it is.

Secret man-crush?

Edit: That could also apply to the OP. He sure does bring up Rush an awful lot!
