As much as I hate older Lambos, the Murcielago is pure sex. I'd take it over any Ferrari, any day.

I'm sure I'd thoroughly enjoy either one, but if I was actually in a position to choose I'd pick a Lambo. I dunno, I guess for me the rarer car is more exclusive and desirable. There are at least half a dozen ferraris in my neighborhood (348s, few Testarossas, a 512, couple Modenas, some others I don't know) but in the entire city I've only seen one late-model Lambo (Diablo SV!!) And Lambo's got the whole bad boy image, and there's the cool history too (who'd have thought that Murcielago's great great grandfather was a TRACTOR?? )

hard question. ferrari if it's the enzo, the f40 or the f50 (not counting older models), but else lambo, cause there are to many 348, 355 and 360 out there...

I don't think there's any question. In terms of prestige: Ferrari.

Lambos probably get more attention however since they have styling that screams "Look at me, I'm exotic!".

By the way (to the original poster of this thread), are you buying this car based on prestige? May I ask why? Your spending your hard-earned money to impress the public? Just buy the car that feels right to you, the car that you enjoy driving...dont' buy a car just because others will like it. Its your money not theirs! I'll be damned if I let other people decide what I spend money on!

Isn't that what prestige is all about?

Lambo all the way. I've seen Ferrari's. Porsches. Hell, even a Lotus or two. I've never seen a Lambo.

That being said, I rank them about even. There both butt expensive and both are on the envelope of todays performance cars. Hell, they DEFINE todays performance cars. Sort of setting the bar for others so to speak.
But in my opinion, the Ferrari is what people buy who just want a "cool expensive fast" car. Lambo is what people buy who dont want what every other rich guy on the road has.
Hertiage means very little to me.

Nope. Prestige commands respect, not just attention.

Well Ferrari's business approach is a whole lot differnet than any other car manufactueres. They sell production cars in order to fund their racing program.

Well I just wanted to point out that they know what they're doing. :D Not to say that Volkswagen doesn't know what they're doing, but I have greater respect for a company that's capable of winning races against the best companies around the world. :)

Ferrari, hands down. Lamborghinis have a certain menace, but IMO they are fundamentally the toys of the nouveau riche. Ferraris have timeless style. With the rare exception of one or two models (namely the latter-day Testarossa/512TR), they have nearly always aged well, and Ferrari has an amazing racing pedigree.

Well, you left out the reason why he was complaining to Enzo - the clutch on all his Ferrari's kept burning out. Not the best build quality, if you ask me.
Well.. I left it out for sake of brevity. Besides.. I heard that it had something to do with noisy gearboxes and not clutches burning out.

Both cars are fabulous. It's just that the Ferrari has more prestige and racing heritage than the Lamborghini. The Lamborghini has changed hands in ownership as well over the years. I believe that they were even owned by Chrysler at one time in the early 90's.

Ferraris build quality did suck back then... and Lamborghinis factory was advanced compared to it. Times have changed now and Ferrari is still Italian. :D

Isn't this analogous to comparing the Hilton sisters? Honestly, how can you say one is better than the other?

i would have to agree with shockwave. I've only ever seen ONE lambo in my life. EVER. I've seen several ferraris. Lamborghini's are just soo much more exotic and rare.

that being said-- i'll take a mclaren.

well thats probably the difference then... i probably see one diablo a month... ive only seen one murcielago though... and maybe 1 355 or 360 once or twice in the same period... so i dont see lamborghini sooo rare. i'm a Formula One fan and thats probably why im very biased about Ferrari. The one time Lamborghini entered F1 by supplying engines... i think they were owned by Chrysler or partnered with them at that time... they sucked. :p :D

must be an L.A. Thing :p

usually the most exotic or exciting cars i see around are riced out civics, a few porches... and maybe an NSX every so often. I cant even recall the last time i saw a viper around here (droool) :)

the lambo i did see belonged to a drug dealer who got busted a few miles from my house-- and the only ferarri's i've seen have been at local car meets and stuff... hardly ever out on the roads.

still, more ferarri's than lambos
