my average PF usage after a couple dais without shutting off is about 250mb. when i restart my comptuer its about 175mb. is 250mb pf usage a bit high? does the high PF usage make the comptuer more sluggish?

Sounds fine to me. How are you measuring your "average pagefile usage"? Is your computer feeling sluggish, or are you just being paranoid? ;)

open the task manager and click performance in that box that says Physical Memory it lists your total and available memory.

What task manager is showing you as "PF usage", isn't pagefile usage. It is "virtual memory of the type that would be paged to the pagefile if it needed to be" - as opposed to v.m. that's paged to other files. But that doesn't mean it's all *in* the pagefile. It might be, or it might not. The Performance tool will tell you, with the pagefile %usage counter, but Task Manager can't.
