I'm so disappointed in this sequel. Of all the places they could have made the game take place in they chose New York City. Then it's coming to consoles and we all know how much better it would have been if it were a PC exclusive.

New York sung by somebody other than Sinatra = fail. Even worse, it's somebody that can't sing at all and has to talk out half of it.

It's not gonna be a PC exclusive?!

Um, the game was developed in the new Sandbox, which has the ability to render games in all three formats. It's not a port, or anything like that.

Oh, I've NEVER heard that before from a dev...

Pfffft. In fact, when they say that, it's usually means that the PC version will be EXTRA-consolized.

I've lived in NYC (midtown Manhattan) for a time and I still don't get why the fascination with the city this game. I can see the fasicination in movies.

I've lived in NYC all my life - and games NEVER use any of the cool parts of the city in games.

Generally it's just a generic city model with a bitmap of the Statue of Liberty included somewhere in the skymap.

Also they never seem to get the colors of the train lines right. The E is blue, the F is orange, the R is yellow. It's on the fucking public MTA maps, devs... :)

There's a pretty extensive article on incrysis.com detailing some in game activity. sounds really really promising.

At least people base games on New York. No one ever bases games in Chicago (as in with major pieces of it recognizable...like GTA 4)...I hope the next GTA is Chicago.

The focus of this game is clearly on consoles. That is what the interviews are about, that is what the press coverage is focusing on, that is why the game is based in New York, and is why it's being presented on an Xbox 360. The screenshots aren't visually impressive at all compared to the first game. New York was obviously chosen to make it run easier on the consoles. The PC gaming community should feel betrayed.

I love how every cross platform game they say all this bullshit about how the PC version won't suck, but it does when it comes out and we're all shocked.

All these PC concerns are valid, but regardless Crysis 2 seems like it's going to be a better game than the first one which is what really matters. I also think nVidia and ATI have a stake in encouraging them to push PC boundaries to help drive video card sales.

Everyone concerned should look at the interview Giant Bomb did with Cevat Yerli. The first question Brad asked was why the game was being shown on 360 instead of PC and all that jazz. He said (as he did in the GameTrailers "First Look") that they want to reach a wider audience (translated: they need more profit).

He said that they're focused on getting the experience of Crysis onto consoles, pushing the limits of the consoles without compromising the overall experience. On the other hand, he said they're still looking to go over the top and making a benchmark type game on PC like they did with Crysis. The idea is to push the boundaries on both platforms.

But game design is the same. Look at the screenshots. There is no foliage, large draw distances, wildlife, mountains, etc. There are generic large buildings everywhere which makes the game have very short draw distances. This would not have been the same game had it been exclusive on the PC. Imagine how cool it would be if Crysis took place in the Amazon. If they had to do it in a city why not put it in Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Tokyo?

So, they used a city so that the 360 and PS3 could keep up? I guess that's possible...but that doesn't mean that the PC version won't do it's best to make the city look as sick as possible.

I understand the lack of optimism, but I'm going to stay as positive as I can about this until I get solid indication to believe otherwise...like an announcement about their being no dedicated servers or something :p

Meh doesn't look all that spectacular. Not to mention the absurdity of everything pointing to a grand showdown in the pacific at the end of the first one only to find yourself in New York??

Crysis is really a co-op kind of game. I dont even remember if the first two had co-op of any kind. They should have been made with the purpose of being a L4D type game.

Jeez whats up with you guys? Personally I think anything that DOESN'T run on unreal engine 3 is gonna have great graphics on PC. I don't really care where its gonna be, as long as the story is better.

You guys really think crytek would dumb down a game for consoles?
And the whole consolification argument is getting old. Mass effect 2 is one example, have you seen the difference between the 360 and PC versions? the menu and HUD are totally different, they suit M+K perfectly.
Look at Bad company 2. It came from the consoles and it pushes PC hardware to the limit and it has huge maps and lots of players something that PC gamers are looking for.
But I don't hear anybody praising them, just complaining about modern warefare 2, which is exactly the same as MW1 but no one ever complained about that.

I think it's more about Crysis not being the pinnacle of human civilization graphics-wise.

In the gaming world....only NYC exists. Maybe Hong Kong if they're going for an eastern thing. ;)

At least in Hollywood there's NYC, LA, Hong Kong, London, and San Francisco. And maybe Seattle if it's a love story.

for ME2, anything dealing with the menu system in the PC was most definitely consolized. it was awful to navigate. and you couldn't use a scrolly wheel.

also, they took away weapon stats. whats up with that? i like knowing how my new weapon is better than the old one. fire rate, clip size, etc. *do* make a difference as to whether the new one is really better.

Apparantly no one watched the videos.

At 1:37, the "Lifelike Characters" section, the facial animation looks amazing and is only available on PC. I'm sure the consoles will get some trashy looking facial models and animations like in the "The Wall" trailer.

If all the characters have facial animations like that, I may be looking to get a shiny new GTX480.
