My desktop is an Intel dual core processor with 3GB of memory and running
windows vista premium 64bit O/S. It has a maximium capacity of 4GB of memory.
Will it run faster if , I upgrade the memory to 4GB ? Will I even see a difference in
speed ?

* Is your "dual core" an older non-C2D model?
* Vista Premium 64-bit can use more than 4GB's. Are you saying that your MB is limited to 4GBs?
* No, you probably won't see any difference going from 3GBs to 4GBs.

Let's try it this way...
Is your "dual core" a Pentium D?

I'm trying to understand where your 4GB limit resides.

it won't run faster unless you were already running out of RAM somehow.

check your performance monitor (Start > Run > "perfmon / res" )
