It's not important that he's a Congressman. Any idiot can become a Congressman. I'm shocked that he was a judge and actually has a law degree. From what school, U. of Phoenix?

It seems the man is not well. Sure it was funny to watch, but after finding out about his health status it's actually quite sad. He should be removed from office for the sake of his health and for his constituents. It would be appropriate for the Dems to nudge him off the stage for the dignity of everyone.

A lot of people in the political arena are trying to put a spin and/or make excuses.

Wow it's almost like yesterday was a day of gags and jokes..

Yeah, except for the fact that it was recorded on the 25th, you might be able to make that jump.

The guy has some serious mental issues now. Whether they have been caused by the Hep C or not, his constituents should have some concern about the general mental health of the man, and how they are being represented.

Guy should be made to step down. He's quite obviously not fit for making laws in this country. 7 x 24 isn't hard to approximate in your head, and being concerned that an island could tip over is lunacy of the highest order.

Republican or Democrat, this guy should resign for the sake of this country, if not his own constituents. There is absolutely no way that this was a metaphor or a joke. His demeanor was entirely serious the entire time he was building up to and asking the question. However his publicists spin it, the fact is that this guy is not mentally competent.

Sorry to kill all of your circle jerk prattle, but you guys really have no radar for subtle humor. Personally, even though I agree with his politics, he's a long winded gas bag if you ever had the misfortune of watching him of CSPAN.

I've watched a lot of subtle humor, and I just don't see it here. You seriously buy this? I love deadpan delivery as much as the next Flying Circus fan but that is not what happened here, no matter how many times you repeat it.

But he did go on to question the effect of more Marine families on the nearby coral reef. That sensitive trepidation alone should cancel out his questionable mental state.

If Marine families would ever actually dine on nearby coral reef we would seriously consider canceling our own similarly sensitive trepidation at the Congressman's unquestionably deranged mental state.

Problem is, coral is, well, inedible.

I'm a big Steve Wright fan and this guy is no Steve Wright. If any non dem made this comment, it would have been blasted all over the MSM and every dem-friendly blog site. And every usual suspect here would have lined up screaming 'LOLZ ON TEH STUPIDZ REPUBLIKUNZ!'.

i'm genuinely sorry about the guys medical condition, but given that, he should step down. That would be the honorable thing to do.

Personally, I thought it was pretty funny and he had great delivery. Some of the best jokes are made with a straight face.

Aren't the left the ones who go apeshit when anyone does anything remotely disrepectful toward Obama? I think a high ranking Admiral should be given the same respect. If this was truly a joke it was disrespectful toward our military.. but thats par for the course for progressives.

Wow. What a sad state, the country is being "led" by people with this kind of diminished mental capacity to believe an island will tip over if more marines land there. No wonder we get things like the health care bill just passed.

Come on, you honestly didn't believe that the Republicans had a monopoly on leaders with diminished mental capacities (Reagan and Bush)
