I have a hardware PCI 3com OEM modem, model # 2976.
in windows 9x, it appears to use Com 5, yet there is no such option to do so in Linux (goes from 1 to 4 if I remember correctly, tty0-tty3, btw what does tty stand for?) apparently. so what do I do? besides try each com port?
and can someone give me a good explanation of what a COM port is? it's been so long since I had to worry about these things, I can't remember! (good ole windows 3.x!)
btw, I have all of the serial ports disabled in windows, so this modem has chosen this port for some reason...
