Whiny liberals complaining about a couple of innocent men railroaded by Texas lawyers.

This story is very disturbing because the defendants' attorneys were apparently not contacted by the State of Texas upon receipt of the confession. Furthermore, preliminary DNA evidence indicates the man who confessed is telling the truth. Yet Texas has done little about it.

Why must Texas lawmen be beaten over the head by the media to do the right thing?

We'll just hope Bush doesn't get his way, everyone's dead if he does. Did anyone besides me see how proud he was about Texas having the most executions in the US?

Actually I live in Texas (Houston) and the law enforcement thing seems to be a much bigger deal to everyone else, than the people that actually live here. Not sure why everyone is so pissed off about us leading the nation in executions. Alot of states enforce the death penalty, and somebody has to lead the nation. Anyways, that's all....not sure why everybody is jumping on the bash Texas law enforcement system bandwagon, when they don't even live here...

And no, I am not a conservative that love Bush. Not sure who I'm voting for, but definetly not a republican.

Maybe if you were one of the two innocent guys sitting in maximum security in a Texas State Prison for an offense you didn't commit and the State of Texas had very substantial evidence of your innocence in its possession for two years you'd understand.

Course, just maybe.

It reminds me of the Shawshank Redemption, however no one will get punished in this case.

No, there doesn't have to be a "leading state" with the most executions. The death penalty is WRONG and should be banned!

Damn straight! We shouldn't be executing murderers and rapists, we should let them back out into society to give them a chance to be repeat offenders! Well, that and we need the cell space to lock up those deadly pot-smokers.

OK, me being an @sshole aside, this does sound like one of those instances where the state screwed up. Big time.

Fett - Never said let them back out into society. You should realize that it costs taxpayers more money to put them on trial seeking the death penalty than if we just seek life in prison without parole. Its to time consuming on our court dockets too.

You cannot complain about the "justice system" in Texas, becuase there isn't one...

Fetts:(Stepping on the other side of the fence for a moment)...The reason why it costs so much to put a man to death (up to 10 times the amount it costs for a life sentence) is because of all the appeals they file in our court system, costs incurred by greedy lawyers and paid for by me and you.

I say we should ban the death penalty, give them life without possibility of parole, and do away with trying to "rehabilitate" lifers.

Yeah, I am a liberal.

Oh well, keep bashing the state I live in, that's cool.....I wouldn't have any idea what I am talking about, being that I live here and all...

Once again, I'm NOT a republican. In the few years that I have been able to vote, it has been liberal. Not saying that I even support the death penalty, just don't like people talking negatively about a place most don't live.

Since Texas is the second largest I am sure it leads in quantity of many entities.

Is there a possibility that the "innocence" is concocted by an anti-death penalty media? Who knows. Only the ones sitting on death row.

Ever hear of the saying "You cannot see the forest for the trees?"
What you might think is ok (Kangaroo courts, sleeping PD's, horrible pollution, runaway corporate control of the legislature and the governor), those of us on the outside see and shrink away in horror.
