My professor told me that the government has approved the use of next generation Windows 2000 OS for the new aircraft carrier. This is because of cost reason, it'll be cheaper for them to use MS' OS, rather than developing a unique solution.

But now that hackers have acquired the source code...

Hmm...scary.

On a more practical note, someone has just released a hack to make the NYC
Metrocard Vending machine spit out free Metro Cards (monthly subway passes).
Those machines run a special version of NT.

Coincidence?

Microsoft wasn't "hacked" The may have been comprimised but they were not hacked. If I sent you a copy of the Sub7 R.A.T. and you activated it that does not constitute a hack.

Ya'll shouldn't be using the term "hacked". Since MS was involved you must use Microspeak. Thus the proper term is "intellectually violated".

Yeah, it's my understanding that W2K will be used for shipboard administration and not weapons control. But I can just imagine the Capt'n saying "Full speed ahead" and all the toilets flush onboard simutaneously.

hahhaah no

90% of the Metrocard machines in NYC are offline today. They have "Out of Order" signs on them and you can see the BSOD on some of them. Really good move being today everyone is in town for the Yankees parade. :)

I am thinking of carrying around a disposable camera to catch pictures of stuff like the BSOD on the Metrocard machines. I see stuff like that all the time.

Recently I have seen:

1) The Windows desktop on the PATH train information screen.
2) A NT General Protection Fault on a cruise ships cabin television.
3) An OS/2 boot screen on an ATM
4) Numerous BSOD and Windows prompts on Kiosk and vending machines all over the city.
