I thought the point of having an OT forum was so that people can post things that aren't related to computer hardware.

Apparently, the general crappiness of DailyTech is of no concern to AnandTech readers.

lurking for 5 years has not yet brought you to P&N, where such irrational and pointless discussions are held?

also, why should we care about DailyTech here? Just discuss in the comments on those articles as everyone else does. You do realize that Dailytech is no longer a part of AT, right?

Yeah, why not put your subjective personal experience right up there with climate data collected from thousands of sensors by climate scientists? And we wonder why climate change denial is so prevalent in the U.S. It's because the average jack-off has the scientific literacy of a chimp.

They're swallowing toys from Kindereggs, or whatever the hell they're called :^D

After 31,000 posts you never noticed the giant bar on the right side of the front page marked "DailyTech"? I guess that doesn't count as being "a part" of AT.

Can we have a moratorium on complaints about being off topic in the Off Topic forum? I think at some point there was an actual subject of conversation here, but now I've forgotten what it was. Something about bad journalism, maybe?

Also, are you seriously complaining about irrational and pointless discussion on ATOT? I thought I was the newcomer :)

well, there is a subforum for what was going to be a pointless, stupid thread before it was posted. That is called P&N...and I guess you should have brought it there.

Anand has no managerial power whatsoever over DT. They are independent entities and have been so for what...4 years, now?

The point being that taking it up here is patently ridiculous. It's like going to one of those Subways attached to a BP, finding a rat tail in your sandwich, and then complaining to BP corporate about it.

ok, fair enough. The kind of irrational and pointless discussion that this lends itself too is of the science-denying P&N class of nincompoopery.

It's a well-established topic of meaningless and angry debate here. If you haven't lurked regularly, then you may not know that this belongs in P&N, if anywhere.

I "think* most threads about Daily Tech get locked, or ignored b/c most people bitch about posting DT threads here. lol

I'm not interested in the intricacies of the corporate relationship between AT and DT. I care about shitty news spoiling my favorite site. I'm encouraging Anand to "fire" them by kicking them off his otherwise excellent site.

The journalistic abomination that is DT is of concern to every AnandTech reader. If you have something to contribute to the discussion, please do. Otherwise, I cordially ask that you stop complaining.

You're right. As a biologist I have no right to be offended if someone says the world is flat, or is 6000 years old, or is made of creamy nougat. Those are all claims that have nothing to do with my discipline.

Yea cuz you need to be a biologist to know the world isn't flat and that there is no MMGW.

TO be fair, it is a blog. DT is merely a symptom of the falling standards in journalistic integrity and exposure everywhere.

Everyone now seems to think they are journalist because they are posting some random bullshit on the internet. Funny thing is, after they've driven their actual sources out of the industry (real journalists), they will no longer have anything to report on, b/c they have no clue how to report the news or properly disseminate information, much less access to the real news sources.

it's all a joke in the blog world.

Key point: Stop mistaking blogs for worthwhile news. :\
