I went out and bought a 320gb SATA II hdd. CMOS recognizes the hdd as 320gb. CD drive is set as slave, SATA hdd is set as master. I lost the jumper that changes it from 3.0gb/s to 1.5 gb/s, so it is stuck at 3.0gb/s

I get an error that says
A problem was found, windows will shut down to prevent any damage. Please remove any new HDD's, or HDD controllers. Run chkdsk /f to check for drive corruption.
Stop: 0x0000007b (0xF78DA63C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I'm in a dungeon of hdd errors, and I have no idea what to do now... Any help will be greatly appreciated. Should I take it to a PC repair shop at Michigan State University, or is there a way I can troubleshoot it?? Please help..
