Best deal IMHO is their 650MHz OC version here $239.99 - $15MIR + $7 shipping = $231.99.

Next is their 680MHz OC Version here $279.99 - $25MIR - $10 (Code EBL2189608007) = $244.99 shipped free.

Finally, their 600MHz Std. Version here $249.99 - $20MIR - $10 (Code EBL2189608006) = $219.99 shipped free.

Not sure why they're charging so much more for the base card versus the OC versions ...

Update - Their newsletter has a typo for the price of the Std. 8800GT. It lists it at $259.99, whereas when you click through it's listed at $249.99. Price above adjusted, but it's still not as good a deal as the other two cards. $12 more for an additional 50MHz, or $24 for 80MHz more, guaranteed.

Well, back in the day of TNT/TNT2/GF many manufacturers skimped out on components and had a crappy VGA output, which is how longstanding myth originated that ATI cards inherently had vastly better 2D (when in reality it depended on manufacturer). So back then Leadtek was one of the manufacturers that provided quality cards. However, it's largely irrelevant now that everybody is using reference design and DVI. Leadtek also often uses non-reference cooling solutions which are usually better than stock. For example leadtek 6800GT actually had a very decent cooler that didn't sound like a leafblower.

So right now Leadtek is just another manufacturer with slightly better coolers. I would expect it to be better than stock, but worse than HR03 or S1. If you do not expect to change coolers leadtek is a good choice, if you are going to change coolers anyway, you might as well go for something cheaper.

Leadtek had a really good rep back in the GF 2 and 4xxx days. They didn't do as much overclocking on the cards, so other companies took over some of the spotlight. With OC came the need for extended and lifetime warranty from XFX, EVGA, BFG; so it's a little hard to consider some of the other brands that dont have "full" coverage on $200-$500 "investments".

The cooler is a zalman vf830. same as the vf1000 but with two less heatpipes and shorter aluminum fins instead of full length copper fins.

It looks like they dropped the price on the standard version to $229.99 and added a $10 rebate to go along with the $20 rebate which makes the net price $199.99. But add $6.98 for shipping.

Yes, I just saw that at SD. The OP edited shortly after I had posted here. I was going to test but you had to enter the credit card number and shipping information and I was too lazy to get my card and try! 😱
