More Good News on Memory Prices

Last week Hynix, the #4 DRAM manufacturer, rejected a buyout offer from Micron. Micron is now soo pissed at Hynix that they are going to run them out of business.

Expect memory prices to tank very very soon.

Not confirmed. I don't think Micron would publicly announce a huge price war but it is very well known how they feel right now.

In fact, the CEO of Micron, Steve Appleton, publicly stated his dissatisfaction with Hynix.

I hope he does except it might bankrupt micron. i don't see how micron could possibly win a price war w/ a korean manufacturer.

Micron has over $2B in cash and investments. Hynix will go out of business a lot sooner than MU will.

Hynix has over $3.5B in overdue debt and needs to be rescued which the Korean gov't or their creditors will not do. In fact, they both wanted MU to buy Hynix but Hynix's board rejected the offer really ticking off the gov't and the creditors.

I have noticed micron has some $20 off coupons on their site for memory. man if this happens I am going to max out my system with ram. Not to mention buy a boatload of DDR 333 😀
