More from the Texas Taliban - no boys hair below the collar

I gotta say, that unless it's a school with uniforms, this is wrong. In the three high schools that I went to (deep south U.S.), the general policies were that your hair couldn't be a "distraction to other students". Even then they rarely did anything about it. Once a kid was moved to the back of the class because the hair was piled so high it was hard to see around it (B52 style), and one other, a guys afro (popular in the 1970's) was HUGE, and he put several picks, little green army men etc as a joke. He was moved over to the window where he was out of line of sight to the teacher.

If hair length is what triggers the school board, they have much larger issues that need to be addressed.

I mean it’s not cool but there are a zillion school districts in this country and some of them are run by crazy people because usually the elections are super low turnout. San Francisco’s school board is nuts too.

I'll critique them when I see them too. 😉

Reading the artical, and seeing what the accusations are against this district, makes me what other districts engage in terrorist behaviors

what about Native Americans? My nephew (1/4 Chactow) wears his hair long (past his shoulders)

90s Grunge bands better not try to go to Texas

Sent both my kids to a private school where dress codes were strictly enforced. Don't know if public schools have the ability to do that kind of thing, other than following what's safe and decent to wear.

Sadly this is common everywhere, even in jobs. I have long hair myself and seen posts in a long hair subreddit of people who were forced to cut because of their school or job. Sucks that it happens. Shouldn't be allowed at all.

Unfortunately people seem to be ok with the idea that the government, workplaces, or other authority can tell you what to do with your own body so this will probably never stop. Just look at the vaccine mandates. Not any different.

A bit of difference in that hair grown past the collar hasn't killed over 700k Americans.

Not sure what that is even suppose to mean in this context or how it even matters. The vaccine should still be a choice. If someone wants to risk death by not taking it then that should be their right. - without losing any freedoms or their job or lively hood etc. If I have the vaccine but you don't, I'm safe, you're not. We both made a choice about our own well being.

But that said I don't want to change the topic.

Then why did you?

A public school should have no authority to institute this rule. It's about as clear cut as you can get. There needs to be punitive action for the schoolboard, but even if there is a way for the court to do that I doubt they have the will.

Man, Eddie looks young there!

Because he was (they were). 30 years ago!
My buddy actually just got to meet Eddie. Matt Cameron drums in his band and Eddie was saying how much he loved their new album etc. My friend (who has met everyone in the business) was just star-struck.

A workplace has the right to project the image they want to. You do not have a right to be employed by any specific employer.

Public schools, however, need to get over it unless it is somehow creating an issue, which i can't imagine long hair could do.

That's probably because you're an idiot.

While there's not an absolute right for the private sector to discriminate, in general I support their own freedom to express themselves as bigoted assholes if they so choose.

A school district on the other hand...

Ha ha ha ha.
WTF, is this 1965?
I mean these backward assed morons can't seem to pass anything meaningful. Now it is just one school district
in texas, but who knows where this goes.

The Washington Post: A Texas school district bans boys from wearing long hair. Now, some students are suing..
Wow, it's 1967, and I'm back in Jr. High!

Imagine seeing the Seeds back then on Where the Acton Is. You're pushing to hard....

1965, more like 1955. I figure a mythical 50s is closer to what MAGA is all about than the 60s. Coloreds still were in their place more without all that uppity civil rights nonsense. The only wars we knew were pretty clear cut without nearly as much traitorous reporting, red-blooded Americans against Nazis and Commies.

Solution to coping in wanna-be Jesuslands like Texas? Move the hell out, IMO.

Unless they are discriminating in an illegal way, they have the right to discriminate in how people present themselves at work. A business doesn't have to employ someone with a "Fuck you" tattoo on their forehead, for example.

Let's just say if I were running a business, facial tatoos, no, complete arm covering gets covered, and body mods are a no go. Does that classify me as an old foogie?

I was just pointing out an example of how people seem to be fine with this kind of crap. Which is not right. No organization should have the right to force you to do anything to your body.
I know it's difficult, but you have to think beyond the "me, myself and I".
