"House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) and Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) sent out a "Dear Colleague" e-mail Tuesday asking for signatures "to the attached letter to President Obama regarding the Middle East peace process."

The letter says the usual stuff, emphasizing that Washington "must be both a trusted mediator and a devoted friend to Israel" and noting: "Israel will be taking the greatest risks in any peace agreement."

Curiously, when we opened the attachment, we noticed it was named "AIPAC Letter Hoyer Cantor May 2009.pdf."

Seems as though someone forgot to change the name or something. AIPAC? The American Israel Public Affairs Committee? Is that how this stuff works?"

WaPo

Here's the letter

It's not a partisan issue as a lot of D's have AIPAC problems, but this is pretty weak, at least they could have changed some of the words around.

Yet another example of how pretty much everyone in Congress is owned by AIPAC, well except for on Tuesdays, that's when the banks get to exert their ownership rights.

For as many things congress is put in charge of in this country, it is near impossible for them to devote much attention to any single issue. This is just the way the system works. But to say AIPAC owns congress, I'm certain that is not true, and I'm sure you're highlighting this only because it involves Israel? Yeah...

AIPAC may have influence - they do not own Congress.

To state otherwise feeds the propaganda machine

Don't suppose to know my motivation. What did you edit out, calling me an anti-semite?

AIPAC just got their espionage case squashed along with the Harman scandal. Along with people like Chuck Schumer taking direct orders from them on who he should support as Ambassador.

So please, if you're not going to take the time to get educated, then don't comment.

AIPAC is really troubling. Really hope J-Street or some other non-right wing Israel advocacy organization gains some traction.

AIPAC does own the US congress.

AIPAC & affiliated organizations whine whenever some points out Israeli-sponsored terrorism.

deny Al Nakba and you're in Holocaust Denial territory.
