Terrible, two dead...including the drivers 3 yo daughter

wtf is wrong with people.

Is drinking really that important?
Working as intended. The government has been trying to kill us for many years now.
1. Make alcohol the only legal drug.
2. This causes most impaired driving to be alcohol related, which is far worse than marijuana driving or amphetamine driving.

The government stepped up the War on America when they started banning smoking in bars. People like smoking while drinking, so the ban on smoking caused people to drive to out of town bars instead of walking to the nearest bar. link.

The government is asking people to go against the natural desire to participate in group activities. If your friends are eating, you will likely eat with them. If your friends smoke, you will likely smoke with them. If they smoke weed, you will likely smoke weed with them. If they drink, you will likely drink with them. This is natural human behavior. Humans bond by doing things together. This is why I never go clothing shopping alone. Regardless of what the government wants, people will go with their instincts then rationalize why they are doing it.
"I can drive fine while drunk"
"What are the odds of being caught?"
"I can beat the test by chewing gum"

One could dismiss the government's poor policy as a simple mistake if this were an isolated case, but it's not. The government consistently has policies that go against human nature and cause huge social problems. Here, we see that the government is giving people a gentle push to drink and drive because drinking is legal while smoking weed and doing a line of coke are not. This is the same loser government that discourages condoms and birth control in favor of the naive assumption that teens will stop having sex. We will never fix these kinds of social problems until we admit that the government is the one causing them. It's ridiculous to think people will do the exact opposite of what their instincts tell them.

So how do you blame the government for some Idiot that drinks and drives? Sounds like a lack of personal responsibility on behalf of the drunk.

I do realize that often it is the police and the courts that let people who drink and drive get off on lesser offenses if they put it under supervision or some drunks may have multiple convictions and then are still driving or never go to jail. This would be the Governments fault.

I think when the government catches someone drunk driving, that the car should be crushed immediately.

The police should pull over every car that leaves a bar after say 10:00 pm and do a sobriety check. That works for me.

I think people often drink when they are out of work and feeling desparate. Idleness is the devils workshop.

Severe consequences rarely work. You're talking about crushing some guy's shitty $2000 car for drinking and driving. Consider this: the cost of raising a child is easily more than $100,000 and it's a drain for 18 years. Being fully aware of this, people still have unprotected sex if they find themselves in that situation. Humans are not logical. The only solution is to give alternatives. Legalizing marijuana would dramatically reduce the rates of drunk driving. I'm absolutely certain of it.

intoxication is deeply ingrained into american society. Symptomatic of mass mental illness greatly enabled by the concept of "recreational intoxication".
