Asked if the people of Iraq choose an Islamic fundamental government someday, Bush said, "I would be disappointed but democracy is democracy. If that's what the people choose, that's what the people choose."

Kind of what we think here at home with his fundamentalist Christian government.

Dick Cheney: "It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States, and that we'll fall back into the pre-9-11 mind-set, if you will, that in fact these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts and that we are not really at war."

This coming from an administration that a bipartisan 9-11 commission described as substantially to blame for unpreparedness and severe intelligence failures before Sept. 11, 2001. It takes balls to act like this when you've got a huge problem with credibility!

Whether or not that's his real stance, that is definitely the correct answer to the question. I give the man kudos for saying it.

Should reflect the Title of the Thread more closely to the article, I nearly started another Thread.

Hmm.. I dunno. I think it's going to be real close.

If it's any consolation, I jut found out I'm not registered to vote and it's past the deadline. My application has been missing a signature for 3 years (since I moved) and is void. :( I wasn't voting Bush anyway (or Kerry, for that matter), but it's still dissapointing. I had my local candidates all picked out. The wife says she's voting Bush, however.

Agreed, but the difference is the Kerry side isn't doing it to defend failure after failure... Had the neocons been justified in this war, or better yet, captured or killed OBL, I'm sure I'd feel different.

Don't announce that latter thought yet, Kage..... it's still within the realm of possibility that Bush has OBL stashed away for a late surprise.

Lol, wow, funny that you would compare our government to fundamental Islamic governments such as the Taliban. I don't necessarily agree with Bush on everything, but I do know that he does not have people who do not convert to Christianity executed. I hate when people are overdramatic.

Scare tactic involves saying something that may happen in the future. Bush himself said that he will get rid of social security by privatizing it. So what happens to the people who currently receive and who are going to be recieving their checks?
