More blazer trouble (96 Chevy Blazer)

Well, another wonderful problem with my blazer (still haven't fixed the sudden engine jerks)

The heat used to work perfectly in my blazer, so hot you'd start sweating if you left it on high going down the road...

One day the heat just went out in it, totally, it didn't heat up at any point in time in the drive, and hasn't worked right since.

My dad replaced the thermostat, and the heat guage was acting up, so he bought another one and now the heat guage is acting properly, but the heat just barely gets warm.

So what would be the problem?

Plugged heater core?

I'm open to suggestions because it sucks not having heat...

Plugged heater core could be it.
It could also be that the thermostat opens at too low of a temperature.
Your car could also have a heater controll valve that could be stuck.

How many miles are on it? I'm trying to remember, I think theres a relation between a head gasket and heat but I may be way off.

One of the first signs of a failing headgasket is lack of heat... but Its much better (less expensive) to check the other possibilites first.

I had a 96 Bravada, ended up trading it in on a new Tucson. The little problems just kept starting to add up.

No idea what the problem is, but good luck.

Well my dad is planning on checking it out friday but I wanted to give him some ideas to ponder before working on it...

Somewhere there's a vacuum feed line for heater valve, a valve that opens to lets hot coolant through the heater core. Check that first. Also check to see that coolant is even making it past the valve. (Valve may be stuck shut)

I don't know what kind of antifreeze is in it, because I don't have the car with me... But on second thought, when you say orange, that's kind of what color I remember seeing in the coolant reserve... I'm assuming it's the Dexcool because it's been serviced by the dealer prior to me owning it...

It's Dex.

There's a slim possibility the dex coagulated and clogged the core..

ACK!! I just realized I'm helping Paulson!!!!!
