Should be running PC3200 400 mhz ram.
Not for UT2003 apparently, Regs. (BTW- this is in no way a flame directed at Regs- I just remembered he and another ATer thought my 768 of 333 was lightweight for benching)
I upgraded my RAM a bit in anticipation of Doom3. (went from 768MB Crucial 2.5 333MHz to 1GB Corsair 2.5 400MHz)
I remembered Regs had made this comment, so I thought I'd see if it made a difference on UT2003. Not so much:
UT2003 Holy Sh*t settings (all highest), 4X 8X, sound on, nVidia on "Quality", 768 PC2700 RAM:
12X9
Flyby 126fps Botmatch 68fps
16X12
Flyby 68fps Botmatch 43fps
UT2003 Holy Sh*t settings (all highest), 4X 8X, sound on, nVidia on "Quality" 1GB PC3200 RAM:
12X9
Flyby 126fps Botmatch 70fps (+2fps)
16X12
Flyby 68fps Botmatch 43fps (same)
Then I wondered what would happen if I cut my AA/AF in half:
UT2003 Holy Sh*t settings (all highest), 4X 8X, sound on, nVidia on "Quality" Quincunx AA, 4X AF:
12X9
Flyby 146fps Botmatch 80fps
16X12
Flyby 104fps Botmatch 64fps (!)
So it looks like on the 6800NU you have the choice at UT2003:
You can play at 12X9, 4X 8X or you can do 16X12 Quincunx 4X.
I'd be happy to re-do the Far Cry or any other benches if anyone is considering the 6800Nu and wants to see them.
(goes back to drinking Heineken and waiting for Doom3)
