More Bandwidth

I have a spare 100Mbit/s network card laying around and want to know if i added that to my file server which already has a 100mbit netowrk connection to my switch - would that work to increase the bandwidth available from the server?

If the switch that the NICs are connected to supports teaming, then yes, you'll get more throughput.

You'll need to combine them with drivers and a switch that supports some form of bonding, teaming, trunking, etherchannel, etc.

I've done this with some Intel nics. They have a management cards that can be combined for added bandwidth. Anyway, when I did this I was using an older PC, and the hard drives couldn't keep up with the network interface... If you have a really fast file server with good drives and maybe SCSI or IDE RAID, then you'll see an increase, but if the network speeds > than the hdd speed, you're out of luck.
