well have you never heard of talkatone or a burner phone number app that is for like a craigslist ad, you give the number use it a few times then there is a fire icon and it burns the number and you can get a new one.
That's going to be really useful when they try to phone up to say that they will be late delivering all your perishable groceries and do you want them left in the rain on your front porch.

Thanks, but this isn't about the issue of how to get around their practice, but just the principle of what they did and why it's wrong.

I mean I've never felt the need to use one because I'm a normally functioning human being so, no, I don't know the inner workings of a burner phone.

I have used it to call in sick from other countries (so they don't see the phone number from asia) last time. Good for selling on Craigslist or buying from whole foods ? Haaa

What I hate about Amazon and food that they stock and sell is that they'' offer it and then if you buy it in bulk at a competitive price to your locality, they seem to learn the non-profitable condition afterwards and never sell it again. Instead, they push their partners which are selling the same item for 75-600% markup. And yet they said early on they would not tolerate pricing gouging on basics of necessity. Ain't food a necessity? This wasn't a one off thing I've noticed with food in bulk, either. I've done it five times on five different products and each time the Amazon page for their own inventory disappears.

This thread confuses me. Amazon has never called or bothered me they call to let me know my order is here, occasionally a driver will call seeking further directions. I consider this a service... my orders don’t get stolen from my porch anymore , delivered to the wrong house & food orders get brought right into the house as soon as the driver leaves.

considering COVID & the growing numbers of desperate people I am grateful Amazon

You're not alone. Most posters in this thread don't think providing a phone number to have groceries delivered to your house is unreasonable.

However, there are a few in the world who seem to enjoy making big deals out of nothing. It's really no wonder why he gets transferred / placed on hold between so many different customer service employees, as I imagine nobody really wants to deal with a jerk. If I took a call from him, I'd do the same damn thing. :p

I'm surprised. I had you pegged as a Colombian drug lord, those guys always use burner phones in the movies.

Cardiffian drug lord surely?

Personally I find pigeons better from a privacy issue, plus it's a lot more pleasant if you have to eat the evidence (obviously not for the pigeon).
