hagbard,

Do you have the opinion that Americans are Evil Monsters that would not care if thousands of innocent of people were to die.

O and we have not nor will we ever Carpet Bomb a city.

Ummmm.....hate to tell you this but.....look up some history of WWII. It's true that the U.S. wanted to stick to a policy of precision daytime bombing, but the British insisted upon a carpet bombing campaign. Look up the fire bombing of Dresden sometime. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just saying you are.

I know about WW2 but were talking about now we have laser and gps guided bombs so we dont have a level a city to get the aircraft plant.
True now, but you said "O and we have not nor will we ever Carpet Bomb a city"

I meant in modern warfare not from 50+ years ago.

You know Hagbard, your position would get a lot more respect and positive attention if you weren't such a bastard about it.

Hahaha, so true.

Hagbard, i respect your intentions, but there are times where admitting that you're wrong, or that you don't have all the facts, will do wonders.

Did I come to that conclusion, or did you?

O and we have not nor will we ever Carpet Bomb a city.

Try reading a newspaper, they are planning to carpet bomb Iraq. Its getting pretty pointless debating with you guys, there is no way you'll ever change your minds, because you are completely closed to anything that doesn't fit your closed world. I supported the US (not very strongly) during the Gulf War...I was wrong. I've been wrong many, many times and I'll admit that. But I've seen nothing that has changed my mind on this, and I am looking for reason, because I once believed in the US.

I can't understand why your all buying the Bush administration BS, and now I know, you're actively avoiding anything that might get you to reconsider your position. BTW, I don't think any of you actually read anything I post, you jump to a conclusion and stick with it.

I'm sure that the thousands of dead liberated Iraqis will be so pleased they don't have to live under Saddams rule anymore. Thanks, I see the light.

No, please, don't ask him to change. I enjoy watching the damage he does to the credibility of the anti-war argument around here.

That is NO what they're saying in the press. They are talking about dropping conventional bombs on Iraq, more in the first day than they used during the entire Gulf War.

I guess it will be a live and learn situation, but one that I believe you won't be able to get out of once you head down that road.

Then you need to pick your words more carefully. To me the word never means anytime between when the Earth cooled and when the sun explodes and burns the Earth up.

Every article I've read has said that we will be dropping even fewer bombs this time than in the Gulf War due to increased accuracy. I've read absolutely nothing about us having any intention of carpet bombing anyone. Perhaps you can come up with reputable links to back up your statement.

Wrong again, I just read your last post.

I've done that. I have yet to hear anyone else do the same, however. I'm clearly wasting my effort.

ROFL! That's rich. This coming from the guy who dismisses all articles, links, or information that doesn't agree with his view as lies and/or propaganda.
Yet, shockingly, to back up his point of view he has no problem providing links to some of the most transparently biased rhetoric and propaganda on the internet and now he wonders why no one cares or believes him.

Funny stuff.

To an extent, I agree with his viewpoint.

Either way, this thing with Iraq is going to suck for the Iraqi people.

Don't you think that living under Saddam's rule "sucks" for the Iraqi people?

The Iraqis didn't want to fight us in 1991. And when they attempted to revolt against the regime after the war, we turned our backs on them. We owe them big time.

Yeah, you can argue that we shouldn't do anything because war kills people. And I guess we could do what the French, Germans, and Russians have done, namely befriend the regime and sign multi-billion dollar oil contracts with them.

A lot of Americans forget how we betrayed the Shia Iraqi's in the south and the Kurdish Iraqi's in the North. We could have prevented it but Bush decided to appease out so called Arab friends.

Appease? No, it was more like we had two or we would have lost support of the world and all the people that think the U.N. is just wonderful. Should we have gone into Baghdad? Hell yes. Just like Patton wanted to deal with the Russians right after WWII. Sucks when you can't need to do what should be done because world opinion would be against you.
