More American Idol voters than presidential elections?

I think I read on here or another forum that there were more people voting for American Idol than for our president in 2000. I searched to no avail... does anyone have an article on this?

I'm wondering if they counted American Idol votes over multiple weeks or for one show... hopefully the former because I would lose hope in our voters if it was the latter.

Thanks

Someone said said more voted for American Idol than the last national election recently, but I'm not sure how true that statement is.

Yeah, it's all in the multi vote option...
the girl from hawaii had the most votes in cali, then texas, then hawaii
no way in hell hawaii can compete with those states on normal numbers.

Also does that mean that bush kerry and nader should be dancing and singing their platforms?

Maybe an 8mile style battle for debates?

Honestly though, if you want voting numbes up, it's all about accessability.

If ppl can phone in/vote on the web, numbers will go up huge.
Just need the security infrastructure

Think of the possibilities. :) After they're all done, we could even have Simon make derogatory comments about ALL the candidates. And Paula and Randy for that matter. That would be even funnier than all the different ones posted in this forum. I can see it now:

To candidate [INSERT NAME HERE]:
Simon: "Terrible. Just terrible. You can't sing, you can't dance. And you certainly can't ride a bicycle..."

Paula: "You really took that issue and made it your own. You showed us a part of yourself and that really made a difference. You showed a lot of heart. And you have the BEST attitude."

Randy: "Yo dawg. What WAS that dawg?"

Candidate: "I have no professional training."

ALL 3 JUDGES (in unison): NOOOO....
:p

EDIT: Seriously, if we could get the security infrastructure in place, it would certainly increase voter turnout but I doubt we could get the infrastructure fullproof given our current state. Maybe in a decade or so.

So basically, you know that you were in the wrong, but don't want to admit it.

Well, the remaining two American Idol candidates are signifigantly more inspiring than either presidential candidate.

So you pretty much can't be bothered to read anything but just fly off the handle at a moments notice.

-or-

--> the spoiled chubby braindead barbie girl

HAH...fantasia = bush...diana = kerry :S

yeah you are right they are both more inspiring than those two.

Man, reiterating that your education is lacking....

I dont fly off the handle. There isnt anyone here that is actually important enough to upset me. I admitted I made a mistake because I read to fast, something very few people here would do. So what is the problem?

In order to reiterate that my education was lacking, you would have to had stated that to me prior to this post. That was a different person. If you want to fly off the handle and insult people at least be good enough to go back and get the right name.

Yeah, both pretty crap. But at least the diana one is sort of cute. ;)

Edit: apparently I cannot spell 'both' today.

Ok consider this the reiteration then ;) Because you didnt read the post at all. Just like a liberal to hear someone admit a mistake and them to keep bitching. You already HAD where I said I read to fast. So it is that you cant think on your own or that you were bitching even after I corrected myself? I am assuming you are a woman. Simply because my girlfriend does that alot too :)

Please, these are some pretty lame attacks even for P&N. At least Cad or heartsurgeon would have called me a 'bleeding heart liberal' and not made some weak 'you throw like a girl comment'. You're going to have to do better than that to divert attention from yourself.

lol im not trying to divert. I am showing you that you got acknowledgement that I made a mistake. So what are you whining about now? I dont think that you throw like a girl. I think you act like one...at least one that I live with...

If you take offense to that then fine, but I sleep with her everynight ;)

All your comment served to do was "yeah and what he said! take that!". Which is, at best, reserved for someone who doesnt have thier own opinion and is in need of a shepard.
