Am I the only one that thinks they should spend more time teaching 'practical math' instead of all this abstract stuff?

/me is 31 years old and has not thought about algebra since 1992. /me wonders how he exists without it.

Well right now this is practical math since it's kind of fun and plus algebra is all aout simpl;ifying problems, which is kind of key for more complex equations, some of which are practical.

In other news I am making progress on this problem,

So far I have,

Square root of 9(5) + square root of 16(5) - cubed root 4(5)

Actually practical math would be finance, banking, amortization, taxes, percents, etc. I can assure you unless you are going into a specific field you will have no need for any of this.

I'm thinking about majoring in CIS. Probably won't need Algebra but it's still kind of fun.

I got square root5 for my last answer.

Ok on this one I needs to combine like terms where possible.

sqyare root 44 -3 square root 63x + 4 square root 28x

This is practical. I use this stuff everyday in EE.
