Ok, heres the problem:

7x^2-3x-1=0

I can get it down to:

X=2+[sqrt]37
----------------------
14


where do I go from here?

no more variables = done. keep in mind that as math gets tougher, the answer isn't always gonna be a simple number. sometimes better to leave it that way than chug at the #.

Yup...but this time, just use x^2 instead of x

e.g. x^2 = b +- sqrt(b^2-4ac) / 2a

Note, that may not be right at all...just going off memory 🙂
 
What I need to know is:

WTF do I do when a varabile is under a radical?

What do I do when instead of "ax^2+bx+c=0" its like "ax^4+bx^3+c=0"?
 
kinda hard to visualize a problem from typing it out but aren't ya suppose to factor the equation into two different ones? you have a polynomial to the 4th power. you can factor it out to be two polynomial to the 2nd power, which would then be able to stick into a quadratic formula.
