Moonbeam is totally out of control

Ok, forum rule 1 reads:
No trolling, flaming or personally attacking members. Deftly attacking ideas and backing up arguments with facts is acceptable and encouraged. Attacking other members personally and purposefully causing trouble with no motive other than to upset the crowd is not allowed.

I know that we typically tend to play loose with the rules in P&N but it seems that Moonbeam has gotten out of hand in this thread.

Of his first 7 posts in the thread 4 of them start with personal insults. And all four of them are NOT in response to anything negative said about him by the posters he insults. Someone posts their opinion of the topic at hand and moonbeam responds by insulting them.

The level of discourse in P&N is already pretty low and if this type of behavior continues it is only going to get worse. Is it acceptable to start every other post with an insult?

The first line of the four posts I mention:
"Hey stupid ass,"

"You are a liar. "

"You are a nattering child."

"What, my dear imbecile"


He has been asked to curb the insults.

After getting stacks of that type of stuff I don't really care, I just wish they would do a little pruning and stop it from this conversion to a blog central.

Seriously OP. This is # of # of threads you started due to feeling like someone you did you unjust. I don't mean to be critical but maybe you should grow a pair of balls. You're in P&N and you expect everyone to be civil? I don't go into P&N because I'm kind of sensitive - maybe you should follow suit.

His posting has changed now that we are deep into election season however

he'll return to more normal kind of Moonie posting which is in a class by itself.

Here is how it applies to this case.

Moonie goes around posting insult after insult and nothing happens.

So poster B sees that and figures that posting insults like that are acceptable and starts to do the same.

Then poster C comes along and takes it to the next level and becomes even more insulting.

And the next thing you have is a total break down of discussion and the forum becomes nothing more than name calling.

I once was in your boat. I complained about being labeled by another member in a manner I didn't like.

I was told to "stop whining."

of course I got pissy about it and walked away from the boards for a long time......

But... I learned if I'm going to post in a manner that seeks attention, then I'd better be ready to take the heat for it.....

and not whine about it....

That doesn't apply here. Drama creates page clicks. I assume that's the reason why certain social conserva-trolls were unbanned.

Yes it does. I'm finding the name calling has been on the rise recently and it's not being stopped. I find it especially annoying because I was handed a week vacation 6 - 8 months ago or so for calling someone an asshole (in P&N) because I thought he was acting like an asshole... here we have people name calling left and right and nothing is being done about it. Not that I'm a saint in the matter, I've done some name calling recently as well.

I've told him to go fuck himself more than once and i've never had any problems because of it, if you got tossed out of P&N it might have been for another reason (you went insane with all the fucking smilies in every post).

Moonbeam is alright and i've seen others dish out far worse than that, including ProfJohn and his snide remarks.
