I'm all for it, and honestly am loving the butthurt coming from Russia about it. Hearing Kremlin servants bitch and moan about how the West just "annexed" some choice warm water coast is breathtakingly hilarious given what Putin did and is continuing to do to Ukraine, Crimea.

What do you think guys? Good news, or fodder for Russian propaganda?

Because they have Mediterranean coast. And they were last country with it that was not in the NATO.

BTW about 30% of their tourists come from Russia, so they'll get some financial hit.

How are they going to "move in"? Montenegro is one of most southern states in the Europe, while Russia is way north. There are several NATO states in between whichever path you take.

"Hope they're ready"? Uh, Russia has been doing all it can to alienate Montenegro from NATO for um, years?

It should be mentioned that most Russian residents within Montenegro do not seem to agree with the Kremlin's irritation here, and the prospect of more business with the West renders the threat of declining Russian tourism pretty weak. No one other than Putin suckers seems to consider the diplomatic process of joining NATO anywhere near the same thing as what Russia did to Crimea. That "no tourists for you!" Putin pulled with Turkey didn't really amount to much IIRC.

I'd say Putin needs the luck - all this tough guy shit and threats, but the Russian economy is already suffering stress fractures from involvement in Ukraine and Syria. He starts something expensive he can't finish and it's a threat to him being in power.

After Ukraine and Crimea, yeah I'm good with that. Hard to blame any neighbors of Russia for worrying of being the next target of "ethnic Russian protection." Seems Russians view their language like American evangelicals view their tender religious sensitivities: always under threat!

Hopefully Putin can just relax on all of this and attend to what he's put on his plate already. We don't need any more Russian angst starting wars or shooting down civilian airliners. Though I'm sure Russian espionage efforts against Sweden will increase because of this move by Montenegro. The butthurt from Moscow is significant, they don't want a repeat of this.
