It would be huge if he brings his dad. Obviously our biggest problem this year was the Offense, but we generally have a good D. It would only make us better.

We need a new QB, and fast!

Why would Monte want to leave the NFL as a DC to accept a job at Tenn as a DC?

Coaching with your own son must have a huge appeal. Plus, he's probably made enough money over the years and TN will be able to pay him well....it's not a huge loss. He could always go back to the pros after a year or two if it's a bust.

Nothing like working for your son and going from a playoff NFL team and top defense to a crappy college team in Tenn. All for the tidy sum of moving to Tenn from FL and earning less money.

There's nothing to say that TN can't pay him a good bit of money and also maybe use him as an Assistant Coach/DC role, which would allow for better pay. He's already won a Super Bowl.

Again, coaching with your son would be pretty cool. I know I'd love to do that with one of my sons. It'd be awesome.

I wouldn't call TN a crappy college team. They are almost always Top 10 and they can turn the program around pretty quick..

TN sucks this year, but they do have some talent. Eric Berry is a monster.

Besides, it's not like they'll pay him chump change, even if he does take a pay cut. DC's in the SEC make like ... 500k/year? If it doesn't work out, he'll have his pick of a few NFL jobs anyway.

The defense is actually pretty good statistically speaking. Would be neat to see how good this team would have been if cutcliffe were still there.

rumors are that both Monte and Coach O are coming. That sets D and recruiting now for some O coaches

Lane Kiffin is the smartest man in football.

1) Take a job you're highly unqualified and in over your head for at a very young age.
2) Beef with your boss over the course of a year.
3) Force yourself to get fired and have the opportunity to look for high profile college jobs.
4) ...
5) Profit big time.

Didn't nebraska try this with an ex-raiders coach? I predict this works out the same. Nothing against UT, but I'm thinking they could have done better.
