This guy should have been charged, and if everything is true, I hope he gets arrested or probation. No matter how annoying the reporter was, you simply cannot do this.

Yet you pretend that the rot is only in the GOP.

I guess outgoing California Democratic Party chairman John Burton putting up two middle fingers and saying, "Fuck Donald Trump", while others follow suit and Nancy Pelosi (Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, NBD) was laughing at it is classy huh? No, Im not trying to compare the alleged assault to flipping the bird, even though people here like to make stretches like that. Trying to take the high ground, acting like Dems are perfect when acts like this happen is funny though.

it isn't classy, it's patriotic.

What? Lol. Who the f is "John Burton" and how does some party chairman making a rude gesture have to do with assault and suppression of constitutional rights? If anything he's expressing his 1A rights in your random example.

Jesus, I figured you'd at least complain about dickhead college students protesting campus speakers and at least have some analogous example... How did you miss that softball?
Your example is just weird and misplaced.

There was a D from NC that got aggressive with some college students a couple years back when they tried to question him on the street.

You know what happened? He apologized the next day and was voted out the next election.

Any contrition on the part of this R bully would be appreciated.

It looks like Republicans will vote for a criminal after all.
Was this in doubt?

From the NPR coverage:
NPR said:
But several Republican voters were willing to withhold judgment or were flat-out skeptical of what reportedly unfolded.

"The body-slamming? Ah, yeah, it just seems a little too good to be true to me," said Chandler Ortman, who works in the restaurant industry in Bozeman and voted for Gianforte. "I guess I'm just gonna say he's innocent until proven guilty."

James Baker, a lobbyist in Bozeman who also voted for Gianforte, said, "Sometimes I think a lot of reporters get aggressive, and after the heat of a long campaign people can lose tempers."

Debbie Warriner of Kalispell called the reports "a crock of baloney."

"I mean, that story — it's possible it's not even true," she told Montana Public Radio.

Moonbeam? I think I found more evidence of that conservative brain defect.

"Too good to be true?" That seems like an odd phrase to use...

It was probably intended as a jab at 'liberals' trying to 'win' at politics, like your star QB getting sick just before the superbowl (definitely not caused by errant Visine drops ending up in his morning coffee).

It reeks of more projection though.

Like he wishes the other guy had done it so that he could be on the "winning team".

What an asshole.

It's ok to commit a crime if the victim is a class of people you don't like.
Unless its the class of people you don't like committing the crime. Then its "thuggish" behavior.

I mean, his skirt was way too short and he was walking through the wrong part of town.

For some reason this popped into my head after reading your post

...and what did politicians in general learn from that event??

Don't apologize, go for the jugular, and double-down. If you don't, you will lose.

Nothing new under the sun.

I wish people on the right saw the danger in this. Do we really want to give Paul LePage any ideas? C'mon now.

I saw a short clip of Gianforte apologizing for his assault on the reporter but he sure didn't look anywhere near sincere nor contrite in his delivery.

Question comes to mind and I don't know if it's been mentioned yet: He probably will be convicted of this crime given the preponderance of the evidence. So will his conviction disqualify him from taking his seat in the House?

Forced apologies are never sincere.

You have a reputation as a reasonable thoughtful person so I buy your take on it. Pcgeek on the other hand has stated on more than one occasion that he would throw down over some name calling. So no I don't buy his take on it.

Bull Shit.
