after 5 years of bulletproof service, my monster power supply/circuit breaker is giving up, without taking a big hit. i guess $400 doesn't get you a decent surge protector anymore. it choked while surfing the internet, killing power to my tv (3 month old Panasonic TH-50PZ80U) and pc (4 month old Q9300, 9600gt x2, etc). i unplugged the pc and tried to power up the tv - ps goes "bzzzz CLICK". OH SHIT, my brand new plasma has shorted! :Q nope, plugged into a $15 tripp-lite strip and running fine. i plugged the pc into the strip and powered on. BOOT FAILURE! OH SHIT, my new (and only) puter has fried! :Q poking around in BIOS, found nothing changed. power up again...success!

the voltage needle on the front shows 108-110V, nothing unusual. when i tried powering anything off of that circuit, the needle dips to 105V and BZZZ CLICK. i don't know if the other circuits are cooked, and hesitate to find out. this thing used to be solid - playing CoD4 on the plasma with the receiver and sub blasting, all powered from the HTS 3500 without blinking.

does anyone have recommendations for a decent power supply/surge protector? i'd like another box, not a strip. i won't be wasting huge money on one of these again.

update: the other circuits are bzzzz-clicking, too. this thing is toast. dammit! :|

it's rated for 15A/1800W, and the breaker on the back hasn't popped. there's no way i'm pulling that load through there.

Well, get something not made by Monster Cable. It's bound to be cheaper and mostly better.

Shit, for that kind of price you could have gotten an UPS.

Your panny draws close to 700W. Your computer is probably around 400 and I don't know how much your sound system draws.

PS check your warranty card, you maybe able to get a replacement from Monster Cable.

I have one of these for my computer / ext hdds, except mine doesn't have the coax filter.

PPS Just checked on Monster website, the 3600 has 5 year limited warranty... I guess you are sol.
