Holy crap!

The side-by-side model looks amazing! Dual 120mm fans with a down-draft design. The new coolers definitely look to be built with an eye to socket 2011 (coming soon). You see a lot of them staying slim, and then expanding higher-up to accomodate for the close RAM modules.

Awesome stuff! :)

Vshah - Yeah, almost the same rig! I have been getting the itch to build a new system, and SB-E looks promising. I would love to get one of these new Noctuas, my NH-U12P has been fantastic.

I heard some new coolers were going to be released 4Q, and it would be great to grab this when I get my new MB/CPU.

The size of these coolers is getting ridiculous! I feel sorry for the mobo that has to support those monstrosities. Noctua makes awesome coolers, but I don't see people using enormous coolers, especially with the recent popularity of closed wc kits.

I agree that the size of air-cooled heat sinks is getting ridiculous...but dmoney, not everyone wants to go with H2O, and IMO, even the setups like Corsair's H series don't quite work as well as a dedicated H2O system. (although they're getting better)

I'm pretty happy with the performance of my Noctua NH-U12P SE2. It does an excellent job of cooling...and is perhaps the quietest moving component in my system.

I like the fans. Maybe if they're nicely priced then I'll buy some to replace my 1,200rpm Scythe Slipstreams.

Oh and one to replace the single Corsair fan (2,000rpm?) on my A70.

I'm with the "size is getting ridiculous" crowd. I think my next cooler will be self contained water. Notcua's high end stuff costs about as much as the self contained corsair units.

of course they don't work as well as "real water" but they're cheaper and they do work as well as these ridiculous tower coolers and at a fraction of the headache when it comes to installing and building your overall rig

you're paying for convenience

I guess it depends on the case. The H100, for example, is very difficult to mount in many cases due to the size of the radiator. The Noctua 14x, on the other hand, generally will fit in most mid-tower+ cases.

These high-end ait setups are pretty jucb better than any sub $100 water setup, and are often-times about the same db level. If you want VERY good cooling, with low noise, then water is the way to go.

I like the ~$60-$80 high-end air solutions because they are easy to install and are very reliable. The Noctua fans are very large, are very well-built, and can be tweaked to be very quiet if needed. In a push/pull config they are great. One other plus with a top-down high-end air cooler is that it helps keep the MB components very cool. Air setups do not do much for air circulation inside the case itself.

would actually like to see what noctua can come up with in terms of contained water coolers...

Yeah, I'd switch back to H2O cooling before attaching on of those monsters to my motherboard. Actually, I'm thinking of going back to H2O cooling anyway...

Motherboards mounted correctly won't be damaged by large HSF. Liquid-cooling is a hobby requires a lot of work and upkeep. Something air cooling doesn't need.

As I mention going back to H2O, I know what liquid cooling entails - thank you.
