HDMI is a digital cable. With a digital transmission, it WORKS or it DOESN'T. There's no quality to adjust. You can get a cable for $8 at Big Lots and it will work just as well.
Wrong.
Don't see anything in that link that says how cables can affect Jitter at all.

Plus, if a cable DID cause that, I'd define that as "not working". And replace the cable, not buy a more expensive one.
Try this one:
http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/jitter.htm
All that says is you need the proper cables for whatever load you're trying to pass through them....doesn't say anything about more expensive cables being better. Basically, it says exactly what people here say.....the signal either gets through or it doesn't....meaning something is wrong with it.

Like using 22 gauge speaker wire with a massive amp. That's about what Monster's old speaker wire "comparison" demo did....used tiny wire, then you flipped the switch and it used larger Monster wire....and of course it sounded better....but if you changed the tiny wire to some Home Depot wire that was of equal size to the Monster wire, there would have been no difference.

Just like if you already have an HDMI cable from a no-name brand that is the proper ohm and bandwidth, etc, for your signal, getting an expensive HDMI cable won't help.

Agreed.

I suppose that depends on your definition of "getting through". You'll still get audio from a signal suffering from jitter, and chances are the average listener wouldn't even be able to hear the error....but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I'm fully aware of Monster's BS, but that example is referring to an analog signal....I'm not really sure how it's relevant here.

I was in on the discussions when HDMI was being ratified . I can tell you , buy the cheapest cable you can. There is a difference if you put the a cheap cable and a high end cable on a oscilloscope, vectorscope and push the bandwidth to the max. But you are NOT going to notice it on the picture.

Also, beware big thick heavy cables. The ports are not designed for the added weight and over the years it is very likely they can cause port damage.
Most of us wanted to use the DVI cable for the standard, but were over ruled by marketing, as DVI cables were not consumer friendly. Thumbscrews apparently confuse people .

This guy here sacrificed much and as a result was enlightened when he bought that cable.

By G. P. (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews

If I could use a rusty boxcutter to carve a new orifice in my body that's compatible with this link cable, I would already be doing it. I can just imagine the pure musical goodness that would flow through this cable into the wound and fill me completely -- like white, holy light. Holding this cable in my hands actually makes me feel that much closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. I only make $6.25/hr at Jack In The Box, but I saved up for three months so I could have this cable. It sits in a shrine I constructed next to my futon in Mother's basement.

I only gave it four stars in my review because I can't find music that is worthy enough to flow through this utterly perfect interconnect.

More reviews here

That's because the idiot posted in in OT and it had to be moved here.

It only makes a difference in the Build Quality of the cable, such as soldering or crimping, insulation clamping, better shielding or a different twist in the conductors for less noise / interference. And in some expensive cables, the wire gauge may be a little larger, which would make a change over a longer length. And then some better cables use a better quality on the connector itself, such as gold plating or pins that fit a bit snugger in the jacks.
