I, believe it or not, have HDMI cheap cable that flukes on 1080P signal, it works fine up to 1080i, but on 'P' starts putting noise randomly on display.
 
Laugh at SandEagle all you want, but I bought a cheap 12' TOSLink Optical cable from Monoprice, paying something less than $5 for it... and now all of the audio produced has about a 35ns delay in playback. It's totally screwed up the gaming on my PC!!! If only I had laid out the $60 for a proper Monster Cable, I'd have faster digital audio playback!!!

I had this problem, if you cut in in half with an axe you halve the playback delay to 17.5ns (a lot easier to live with)
