The Monsoon MM-2000 is a five piece, four-channel surround-audio system featuring 100-watt subwoofer, and four 60 watts flat-panel satellites. Monsoon Audio is highly regarded for their flat panel systems, and the user discussions at Neoseeker claim that the Monsoon is far better at playing music then the comparable Klipsch Promedia 4.1 system. It got the PC Magazine Editors Choice Award in March 2001 and it is probably one of the best looking speaker systems with a retail price of $299.

Total Price: $194.95
The Gateway Accessory Store (NECX Direct) has the system for $219.95 and they have free shipping on orders over $200. Plus there is an instant rebate coupon for $25 that you can apply on the order form. You can find the coupon at techbargins.

its funny too since, my friend just got the 4.1's and the things cut out under very little volume.

I have MM-700's, and I must say they kick major major major ass. I'm drooling over the prospect of a 4.1 system with these speakers, and with an even BIGGER subwoofer... DAMN.

Ah well don't have the money though :)

AAAAaaahhhhhhh!!! It's Mr. Dong Tran again ;)

How ya been? Got any offers on those cars?

I have the klipsch 4.1s and they're pretty nice. I've got no complaints, just wish I had a Philips Acoustic Edge to go with the set.

I've read about the monsoons too, but from what I've heard, they're not really up to par. They cut out too under low volume right? Flat panel technology is very limited from what I understand, but then again, I'm a total moron.

Sorry if I'm talking outta my ( i )

I am not a fan of any brand (so 3dfx died and I am happy with GF2/3), and I admit that this baby looks more kool, but can flat panel realy reach 20kHz with in 3db? Can its woofer go down 30Hz?

The ADA890s are still going strong, music, movies, and games sound great. Smaller footprint then Klipsch, As for the Monsoon, I went to Compusa and listen to them, I have to say they sound very nice for being so think. Nice woofer too, got three openings, one on front and one on each side. Very strong sound.

I haven't heard these speakers, but coming from my knowledge of home audio, the technology used (Planar) is often a superior way of reproducing sounds from the Mid-Bass to the High regions. Companies like MagnaPan make wonderful sounding speakers for home audio that are based on Planar technology.
Now, take that with a grain of salt since most home audio concepts don't translate to computers all that well - i.e. the watered down version of THX certification that speakers like the Klipsch Pro's sport. These might be a similarly cheap imitation of Planar technology.
These look cooler ,IMO, than cone speakers like the Klipsch, but the best thing to do is go someplace and let your ears tell you which speakers are best.
Oh, and in case you're curious, I'm quite happy with the sound and the very small footprint that my Boston BA635 sub/sat system makes :)

Yeah I doubt they are better then Klipsch. Shouldn't make statements that are pure opinion.

I like the speakers that I just picked up from Office Max. They were $9.99 with a $9.99 rebate. I think I'll even like them better once I get my rebate. :)

Doesn't PC World and PC Magazine give high ratings to just about EVERYTHING? Does it have to do with who they have for advertising and who they don't want to piss off? I don't know. Seems like I see reviews quoted from these two mags alot, and it's always a great review.

I don't quite believe in PC Mags or PC World rating thou.

Besides, I love my Klipsch w/Acoustic Edge.

from what i heard, kllipsch is much more powerful, and more bass.
so maybe klipsch is better, but monsoon is $100 cheaper man, cant beat that. Can use that extra $100 to buy the rear speakers stand. Oh, which brings this to my mind, why the h3ll are rear speakers stands so expensive? they are jsut pieces of woods.....

oh come on now. just about everything that has been said about klipsch stuff is opinion as well, sound is such a subjective thing. if there is a need for generalization, while klipsch home stereo stuff is top notch, the multimedia versions are watered down (they came out after their CEO left and the company steered toward mass-market models). you simply cant say klipsch is the best either, for one thing shrill bright highs really annoyed me above all.
