Meh,

I will not disparage Monoprice, or any other retailer.

Buyers have so many choices these days that shipping costs have to be covered.

USPS prices are up, but not THAT much.... they are just padding. Morons will lose business because that's their entire client base (frugal people).

13 oz or less will get you cheap shipping.

Wow, you were going to buy a WHOLE $25 worth of cables from them? Man, they look like they've lost a major customer. They may want to reconsider their shipping policy for that. :p

pft 30 is not much. try over 100 than add another couple hundred in customs. its still cheaper than buying locally at 30-60 per cable. cables are insanely marked up locally. you need to buy in bulk from monoprice and make it count. 10+ of various size and types etc.

Amazon spoils us.

I bought 2 HDMI cables from Monoprice... last week? $7 for cables, $3.50 for shipping.

The way it used to be.

Anybody else here ever buy a CRT monitor via mail order?

I think its cuz their cables are just so damn cheap that you end up with a lot of cables for very little money. they are pretty heavy.

Living in California the shipping rates are solid. Often times the regional overnight service is cheaper than Usps.

I suppose if you are out-of state it could become nasty quick without some sort of discounts.

In California, they have overnight shipping for ~$6 with overnight express. Pretty much anything will ship for that. I buy tons of stuff with them and the company I work for buys thousands of dollars in cables.

7/10 Customer whine rating.

You could have gotten a perfect score if you had fit in something along the lines of "Do you know how much money I've spent with you" and "I'm never shopping here again"

I believe shipping is only part of the equation. Handling is also there and they have to pay someone to pull the items out of the warehouse and put them in a box. That's another 17 cents right there.

Used to buy a lot of cables from monoprice, quality was great.. was looking to get a bunch more, about $25 worth. They wanted $30 to ship these, are they serious ? The cables maybe weigh 2 pounds at most if that.

They used to ship parcel post, now it's all 2-day priority and above. When i called them, there answer was that's the way it is.

Goodbye monoprice.

Curious, what would a similar order from another online store cost? Have you compared?

I think its cuz their cables are just so damn cheap that you end up with a lot of cables for very little money. they are pretty heavy.

Right. The cables we are ordering from them were $50 each not that long ago. You wouldn't complain about $12 in shipping on a $50 order but on a $4 order it stings.

Hell I just had to order some screws. The screws were $2.73 but shipping was $7.67. Nothing you can do about it unless you want to go pick them up yourself. In which case you would probably spend more in gas than the shipping charges.
