Have we just decided with the proliferation of spell check and debit cards that we don't need to learn to spell or count anymore? Monopoly is great for teaching counting and dealing with money to kids.

Maybe... It used to piss me off playing with my father. He played Monopoly like real life, and it made it difficult to win. He wouldn't take any chances, and played the game to maintain. Games would drag on and on and on....

Well, there's that too but I'm talking more about making change and counting money. These are skills that everyone should have yet every time I walk into a McDonald's or similar I'm shown that isn't the case.

if it were a pc game, you'd get half of the board for full price, and the other half would be broken up into a series of expansion packs. the car is available only in the collectors' edition.

I bet only 10% of the current counter help could accurately use an old manual cash register. They can barely use the computerized versions, and they do all the work for you :^/

saw the ps3 version and the layouts to the new board levels looks pretty impressive.
but my friend was playin' it and he didn't give a fvck what was going on, we just watched in 'awe' how hasbro could allow such a graphically impressive, but immensely crappy game be imported from board to video game console.
it was a good laugh...

If it speeds up the game and prevents the arguing about which rules to use (which always fucks things up, "we always played it this way..."), then I'm all for it.

Hasbro has another failure here. Changing Monopoly in any major way would be like adding new moves to chess or adding squares to the chess board. Seriously, this is a company who produces games. Does ANYONE at Hasbro actually play games?
