Me and a few friends of mine went and saw Tropic Thunder yesterday. Great movie by the way. We were low on cash so we got an extra large drink and shared it.
Find out today that 30 minutes ago one of those friends has mono. He just found out today. He has has a sore throat for a few days.
Anyways....
Symptoms usually appear 4-7 weeks after being introduced to the virus and are:
* constant fatigue
* fever
* sore throat
* loss of appetite
* swollen lymph nodes (commonly called glands, located in your neck, underarms, and groin)
* headaches
* sore muscles
* larger-than-normal liver or spleen
* skin rash
* abdominal pain

Anyone here had mono before because I am starting a new job very soon and the last thing I need is to get horribly sick.
Would getting as much vitamin c and other immune system boosters help fight this?
Thanks..

Mono is the kissing disease. So basically you and all your friends were making out during the movie. If you think you have it go to a doctor so they can catch it early.

I had it in high school...ended up being in the hospital for three days. I had a lot of tonsil problems and my airwave starting getting constricted. It sucked. I missed 2 weeks of work/school. That's probably kind of an extreme case though. I remember the extreme fatigue in the beginning. I basically only got out of bed to go to the bathroom for two straight days.
Good luck...hope you don't get it.

Can't do crap about a viral infection of mono. Best is to get plenty of rest and help your body fight it off.

You (usually) only get mono once in your life and most people have had it by the time they get to the first grade so they never even knew it.

I had it, it was the best sickness ever. I had a sore throat for a day, but my employer gave me the week off since they figured I'd be sick at least that long. Mono was just a nice vacation for me.

I got mono in high school, and it sucked. A lot. At one point I had a fever of 103 and over the course of a month I went from 5'10" 150 lbs. to 130 lbs. I had no apetite, and my spleen was swollen.

Get lots of rest and take it easy. It's nasty.

Somebody told me you can only get mono if you've already had chicken pox but I have no idea if that's true :confused:

Haha, I was going to say the same thing.

Op, I would never share a drink with all my friends simply because I know where they have been and what they have done. Too many trips to Mexico, Canada and Amsterdam!
