Maybe a lot of us don't believe that score is legitimate. It's not that hard to edit the URL to post a fake score.

I found this link which shows how to hack the URL to set any score you want. I didn't want to take the time to set a large score, but it can be done.
 
5476. I get over 5k about 4 out of 10 tries.

The trick: (since no one has mentioned it yet) - once you get the timing down on when to kick it, only kick it when he pops the ball up over his head. It takes more patience for that part than it takes watching the ball zoom off toward the city.

I don't know if you would also notice that only kick when he pops the ball with the other leg, the left leg. This would make the right leg moves back a bit further allows for a higher inertia, I don't know if they even calculated that but most of the distance kicks I've done are with the right leg back.

I have no ideas how the others get above 7K, I thought that the marked ball at 4K has something to do with it, but I landed directly below it twice and nothing happened.

Just tried playing this game again because I had it in Favorites 😉 Played for about an hour straight because I was bored.
