does anybody know of any lcd monitors that are 17 inch's about 450 canadian and don't suck for gaming? I will be playing mostly at 1024x768 res, but i want my desktop to be at 1280x1024 res

Thanks Graeme

imho crt's are way better then lcd for gaming, resolution wise, and the lcd's normally have a wait time on imagery; if you arent limited by space go crt you can get bigger, great dot pitch, and wont be disappointed. only benefit i've seen for lcd's is for a small workspace.

a 19 inch even 21 inch is comparable in price to a 17 inch lcd, and the crt can do way higher (1600x1200) res's

good luck to you in your search

I am kindof tight on space though, i will be going away to school next year, and desk space will be very limited....

I can't find a review anywhere about it, and for the most awesome lcd on the planet, it's pretty cheap?
What is so awesome about it?

check out NCIX.com, they have some pretty good deals on monitors, I've seen some 17 inchers getting pretty low in price... near 400 when they are on special.

ya i checked there, they had a samsung syncmaster 710t for like 530 i think, ive heard nothin but good things about this monitor and they also price match, so maybe i can find it cheaper elsewhere

Higher price doesn't necessarily mean better performance. Look at aixenv's link, and see how many people loved the L70S. Seriously. And it's not an unheard-of brand either - it's a subsidiary of Hyundai (yes, the car maker). If you're going for a 17", definitely take that one into consideration, it'll really save you some money and it is excellent quality.

you say that now, however i ran DUAL 19in CRTs for 3 of my 4 years in college, no issues with desk space and NO i did not have a massive desk, standard sh!tty college desk, and id say that 80% of the people never do work at their desk anyway
