This will the the first LCD I have bought new (the VX722 I'm using now was a gift from a friend) and I'm wondering which of these LCDs is better of if anyone has an experience with any of them. I don't really care too much about the color being correct (I don't do any type of graphical work) but the main thing is ghosting. I play CS a lot and I cant deal with ghosting so yeah... Here are the ones I have been looking at...
dell 22"
SAMSUNG 226BW
Asus MW221U
Viewsonic VG2230wm
Or if you have any suggestions in the 300~ish area.
 
I'd say either the Dell or this Acer. I have two of the Acer's at work and haven't had any problems out of them. Color is better than most 6-bit TNs with dithering and haven't noticed any ghosting (Prey LAN at work huzzah).
 
I own the Acer AL2216W, which is the same as the one linked only black. I've had no troubles either, it looks great. For the price of this thing you can't go wrong.
 
I just bought a Samsung 226bw this week, and this is a fantastic monitor, the best one I have owned yet. The dynamic contrast makes for beautiful gaming, picture and color are great, and no dead pixels on mine. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a 22"

I got one of the unmarked panels, and it is absolutely flawless. Supposedly all the new manufacture 226bw's are samsung panels/

The 226WTQ is better than 226WT.
The "Q" has 2ms response time and a bit correct colors.

The 226BW would be even better, if Samsung now are using its own panel.
 
These days the advertised specs don't hold much truth. Like the fiasco with the Samsung 226BW, where you don't know which panel you actually will get.

I bought a LG L1920PQ last year which I thought was an 8 bit panel. What I got was the L1920P which is a 6 bit monitor even though the label on the back says L1920PQ. Color banding is noticeable.
 
Just ordered the 226BW wish me luck on getting a "S" panel (but if the only difference is color calibration i could care less, i play at lan centers where kids mess that up so BADLY).

The 226BW can be a "fiasco" only between well informed users.
The 99% of users buy a monitor totally ignoring these issues.
But it's however an evil commercial practice.

No modern TN panel is true 8-bit colors.
They can write "8-bit" or "16.7M colors" only because use Hi-FRC dithering.
And this is also a valid choice, because true 8-bit colors combined with poor viewing angle is a nonsense.

Your color banding problem is probably due to a bad factory color calibration or OSD adjustments.
Simply changing the (fake) contrast option you can get banding...
Activating some colors boost functions you can get banding...
etc. etc.
Even the brightness control is partially emulated altering colors matching.

Dont even kid, when my favorite lan center closed they threw 30 of those away, i was out of town on vacation and when i came back it was gone and there was a VERY heated conversation between me and the former owner over why he THREW the monitors away.

A single 2070SB is declared for a 150W power consumption.
A typical 22 inch LCD absorbs 60W.

Maybe they want simply save "some" energy?

Just bought a AL2016Ws, pretty happy with it... Big/Huge difference between my old 1024*768 monitor, that was like 6 years old 😛
