Alright, here goes.
I work in the IT department of a Business School and one of my responsibilities is to maintain the computer lab and help professors and departments order software and make sure it works in the Lab.
So basically the accounting department wants to order this software which can be purchased with a network license. Basically you can install the software on a network drive, and then every client can run the software by going to the network drive and running the program. We have like 50 computers in the lab, but the department wants to purchase around 10 licenses. The software license requires that we monitor and restrict concurrent usage of the software to the 10 licenses we purchase.
Anyone have any ideas how to implement this, the network drive would probably be on a Win2k server although I could put it on a linux box if that helped, most of the clients will be Windows XP Pro. I am thinking of ideas.. purchasing some sort of software package which does this, a batch file, a custom exe.. I dunno, Kinda lost here, and I need to get this setup before the Fall semester starts, so not much time.
Thanks
Ari
