monitor won't stop flickering

I have a monitor, Samsung 226BW, which I got about 18 months ago. It worked fine for the first year or so. One day it randomly started flickering for 10-20 second whenever it was first turned on - not a big deal since it went away, just kind of annoying. I turn on the monitor today and the flickering never goes away, it just keeps going like a strobelight. Tried restarting, turning on and off, adjusting settings, nothing's worked so far. Even when I disconnect it from the computer it still has the same flickering problem. Any ideas on how this can be fixed, or do I just need to get a new monitor?
