Monitor won't go into powersaving mode

I'm using windows xp professional and I find that if I use a 3d screensaver that my monitor won't go into powersaving mode. I tried several sets of nvidia drivers...currently I'm using the ones that come with XP.

Any ideas, I don't want to use a non3d screensaver as I like the 3d ones a lot. I think it used to work, but i don't know what's wrong now.
