I had to ship out my bro's old LCD to get it fixed so we moved a new one to his computer to temporarily replace it. You can turn on the computer and see the Windows XP screen come up, but it turns totally black when windows fully loads. What gives?

More info...
It's an SN41G2. We've tried an LCD and a CRT. It seems like once windows loads the monitor turns off automatically, but when you turn it back on the power button stays orange and it's all black.

Most LCDs at least have a popup that tells you it's being fed an incompatible resolution, though...

Does your monitor work in safe mode?

If so, I'd be pretty confident it's a unsupported resolution problem.

WobbleWobble is spot on. Boot XP to VGA mode, choose a lower resolution, then try Normal mode again.

I've had that same problem on my 17" CRT also. Most monitors don't actually warn you. The monitor just goes crazy or doesn't display resolutions that they can't display. I had to hook up my computer to my friend's 19" monitor and change back the resolution, then connect it back to my monitor to fix the problem.

Most monitors I've seen just go into standby mode when you try to run them at an unsupported resolution.
