Monitor Woes

So, after buying a 17 in. Dell E173FP, I changed the monitor to its native resolution (1280 x 1024). Unfortunately, the middle of the screen seems to get very blurry. It seems to take place in a 2 in. vertical strip in the middle of the screen. I have no problems in other resolutions. Any advice for this sort of thing?
